Asher's Dedication
/Last month we joyfully dedicated Asher Zacarias Diaz to the Lord. We vowed before our local community of believers that we would do everything we could to train him in the ways of Jesus and we invited them into the journey. His dedication was a public promise to raise him to be all he was created to be and to love God with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Asher's dedication was also special because my mom was able to be there. Our lead pastor, Dave Gibbons, dedicated Asher. We love Dave so much and are so grateful for the nearly 9 years of relationship with him and his family. I also love how Asher received this blessing but it flowed over into the blessing for all the kids being dedicated and our entire church. Prophetic? Maybe.
We also chose Psalm 146, especially verse 5, to claim over his life. The miracle that he is, we wanted to affirm his life as a blessing to be a blessing throughout the earth.
Psalm 146
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
there is no help for you there.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6 He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
7 He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9 The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
