True Religion
/I hate the word religion mainly because of all the baggage it brings up for people, including me. Rules. Judgment. Constraining. Mostly "don'ts". Stained glass. Uber long church services. Blah. Religion feels stifling.
But I love this definition of True Religion [not the jeans brand] from James 1:27 [New Living Translation]:
"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
If that was the kind of religion that Christians really lived by, I think that people wouldn't have so much baggage with the word. Maybe.
